Wesley Mission Brisbane is an integral part of the Uniting Church in Australia responding to God’s love for the world as we walk alongside and in relationship with people to enhance personal, family and community wellbeing. Our prime focus is to support and empower people who are most in need, and to assist them in realising their potential and hope for the future.

As a Christian church, Albert Street Uniting Church understands and expresses its response to human need in terms of the love God has shown the world, in and through Jesus; and in response to obedience to God and the teachings of the Bible. The history of the Albert Street Church goes back more than 160 years. It has had a vital presence in Brisbane during all that time, particularly among those who have found themselves in need or on the margin of society.

Wesley Mission Brisbane was established in 1907, at the initiative of Albert Street, as a provider of special ministries beyond the bounds of the congregation. It was the first provider of residential aged care in Queensland (establishing Wheller Gardens Chermside in 1936). Wesley Mission Brisbane has valued its heritage and the journey of those whom have gone before – particularly the drive to innovate and explore new ways of supporting people and communities.

Wesley Mission Brisbane is also part of the UnitingCare Queensland network of services and we work nationally in close cooperation within the diverse network of organisations within UnitingCare Australia. Wesley Mission Brisbane provides comprehensive and integrated support services for people of all ages and stages of life.
